Just Between Friends is run 100% by volunteers and simply put, we love and need YOU! For this reason, we reward our volunteers.

How Does It Work?

Sign up to volunteer and you'll shop before the crowd and consignors. That's right, you'll have access to the best merchandise and best deals before the event opens to the public. You'll also earn 70% of your sales if you are a consignor! And...it's fun!

Volunteers help with everything from handing out flyers before the event to organizing merchandise onsite to setting up and breaking down the event.

The more shifts you volunteer for the earlier you shop the presale on Thursday, April 18th AND the half of presale on Saturday April 20th.

Shifts are available in 4, 8, 12 and 16-hour increments. The longer you volunteer, the earlier you get to shop! The earlier you shop, the more merchandise and bargains to be had!

Pregnant or have health limitations?

Many of the tasks can be done sitting down, so nearly everyone is able to join the fun! And, by the way, if you're not able to make it we'll happily welcome your husband, brother, father (trust us, we could really use some MUSCLE!) or mother as a volunteer, and you'll still get the credit! Or volunteer together and earn double the credits!

Our most important "muscle shifts" are:

Tuesday, April 16th, 8:00am-12:00pm
Sunday, April 21st, 5:00-9:00pm

Many couples volunteer together so they in turn can shop the PreSale together. Or, combine their volunteer hours onto yours and jump to an earlier shopping time.

WHEN DO VOLUNTEERS SHOP?

In a word - FIRST! Volunteers shop FIRST, before the public! Here are the presale times:

Thursday, April 18th

10am-9pm - Team Lead Presale
12pm-9pm - 16 Hour Presale
1pm-9pm - 12 Hour Presale
2pm-9pm - 8 Hour Presale
2:30pm-9pm - 4 Hour Presale

* Please note: One person per pass, no exceptions. For safety reasons no children can attend the presales. Wearable infants under 1 year are welcome. No strollers. Kids of all ages and strollers are welcome during the Family PreSale from 7pm-9pm or during the public sales.

** You are allowed 2 guests to shop at the Consignor/Volunteer Guest shopping time from 3pm-9pm.

Saturday, April 20th (50% off presale)

4:00-8:00 pm Volunteer Team Lead Presale
5:30-8:00 pm Volunteer/Consignor(+1 guest)
6:00-8:00 pm First Time Parent/Teacher/Military (+1 guest)

* Please note: One person per pass, no exceptions. Children and strollers are welcome during the 50% off presale.

**First Time Parents, Grandparents, Foster/Adoptive Parents, Teachers and Military must have a pass to enter.  You must pre-register and attend the Original PreSale on Thursday to receive this pass. You will receive the pass at the sale.
 

WANT TO BARTER?


WHAT IS A BARTER?

Simply put, it's a trade. Sometimes you just don't have the the time (with kids, a husband and a job!) to volunteer at the event and we understand that. We'd still love for you to be able to participate in the PreSales and be a part of the fun! We have some great opportunities for you to assist us in planning and marketing for the event that will earn you a PreSale pass.

These opportunities go quickly so be sure to act fast when the Volunteer Scheduler opens August 15th to secure your barter!  All barters will be listed on the Online Volunteer Scheduler.

Examples of Barters:

  • Soda/Water/Snack Barter for volunteers at the sale
  • Stamp Barter
  • Daycare/School Free Admission Card Delivery Route
  • Meal Barter (We are so busy at the sale that we don't have time to eat! If you like to cook or don't mind getting us lunch/dinner on your dime than this barter is for you!
  • Moving Truck Barter

HOW DO I SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER?

Volunteer Registration Opens March 1st. Be sure to login early as barters and the best shifts go fast! ALL Volunteer shifts must be scheduled online.

  1. Sign up to create your JBF Account or Log In (top right corner of website).
  2. Locate the "Reno" event under Upcoming Events and clic the pink "Sign Up" button.
  3. Select "Volunteer" as how you would like to participate.
  4. The volunteer scheduler will open automatically (on and after March 1st).
  5. Browse the available volunteer shifts and barters.  If you don't see a shift your looking for, it's probably gone.
  6. Don't forget to select the appropriate PreSale Pass that you qualify for!
  7. To make changes to your schedule click the shift that you want to modify uner "My Shifts" in your profile.

The Volunteer Scheduler will close on Sunday, April 14th at 10pm. To make changes or schedule a volunteer shift after that please contact Sarah Fierro.
 

WHAT TO WEAR & BRING

We want you to be comfortable and  recommend wearing close-toed shoes that give you lots of support. And please wear clothing that lets you move easily. We also suggest wearing layers as temperatures vary throughout the day.

Snacks will be provided, but if you have special dietary needs, you may want to bring a private stash. We will have soft drinks on hand as well as lots and lots of water!

If you are working over a meal time (say, a 10-2 shift) you are welcome to bring a sack lunch or heavy snack. We will have fridge and microwave you are welcome to use. Meals are only provided for Team Lead volunteers and staff.

We will have a volunteer area for you to place your personal belongings but we highly recommend leaving them in your car.  We are not responsible for any items that you bring into the sale.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift starts and we will train you on all you need to know!
